As of the last doctor visit on August 30th, Ethan has grown to 10 pounds and 22 1/2 inches!
Amazing. We’re actually feeding him Miracle Gro Baby.
We took Ethan for his first doctor’s visit last Friday - believe it or not, he actually gained almost a full pound! He was 7 pounds, 8 ounces. And he grew an inch - 20 inches.
But the growing doesn’t stop there! We took him this Friday on the 17th, and he gained 4 full ounces and is now 8 pounds. Wow, he’s growing up so fast. I’m sure you can tell from some of the photos that he’s really evened out and is beginning to put on his ‘baby fat.’
More pictures will be posted very shortly, since I know thats what most people are actually here for.
Mom is doing fine (although she is very tired!) I return to work in a week, which of course I am not looking forward to.
Seeing that I will be posting a lot of pictures in the upcoming days / months, etc I am now posting pictures to the online photo album here:
http://baby.orlowskifamily.com/photos/
What’s great about this is you can see previews of the photos, click them for a bigger image, and even view a slideshow of all the photos in the album. Pretty neat. I’ll also place a link to the photos in the links section on the left.
We officially welcomed him home today in the afternoon.
More pictures, of course:

Mom and Ethan need to spend one more night in the hospital. We were originally hoping that they could come home tonight, but the doctors didn’t issue the discharge yet. So hopefully, Ethan will make the journey home tomorrow afternoon. The sooner, the better.
If you want to stop by to see him, please feel free. We’re looking forward to welcoming him home!
Everyone who gambled on delivery last week was wrong. Guess I’m stuck with diaper duty. Oh well.
Meghan is now home from work and is balancing housework and resting. More housework at this point.
We’re hoping the upcoming couple of days will be good to us. The weather has been nice (warm, but not too hot) so its perfect timing for a baby.
With any luck, the next post won’t be another “not yet…” message - it will be a “born” post!
Our next doctor’s appointment is Tuesday. We both get the feeling that the time is drawing much closer. In fact Meghan believes it might be as early as this week. Which would be convenient, of course. This marks the beginning of week 38, so we’re two weeks ahead of the due date.
The house is pretty much ready (let’s be honest - nothing is ever 100% ready) aside from a few odd jobs here and there. The clothes are washed, furniture assembled, major household chores done, and details taken care of. I won’t deny that this week would be perfect timing as far other birthdays go, but whenever the baby is born will obviously be fine with me.
Since everyone (my parents and sister) weighed in their opinions, I figured I’d put it on record:
Mom said the baby would be born Sunday, July 22
Dad says Thursday July 26
Danielle says July 23
Shawn says July 25
Everyone else was smart enough not to venture a guess.
Whoever guesses right gets to change the first diaper. Good luck.
As promised, I finally took pictures of our room, which is conveniently doubling as a nursery. I took photos of the nursery specific things, though I’m sure in the future you’ll see pictures of more of the house / room, as we’re out and about with Ethan.
